Things to Do

The National Mall is a beautiful place to start with gorgeously landscaped walking and lounging areas and dozens of museums, memorials, and sites such as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Renwick Gallery of American Art, and the National Air and Space Museum. Lining the mall are D.C.’s famous cherry blossom trees, and every spring, millions of people enjoy the Cherry Blossom Festival, among other fun events.
 
A few noteworthy historical sites include the National Archives, the Washington Cathedral, the Library of Congress, and St. John’s Episcopal Church, also known as “the church of the presidents.” Or, for a nice day trip, locals enjoy an afternoon at Mount Vernon or a stroll around the Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens.
